The Crown is one of the series that most marked the last year, both for the interest of the story itself, and for the interpretation of the cast and wonderful wardrobe. The series portrays the first years of the reign of Elizabeth II, bringing together a luxury team. The scriptwriter is Peter Morgan, the same for the films The Queen and Frost / Nixon, the director Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Hours) and the producer Andy Harries (The Queen).

The Crown é das séries que mais marcou o último ano, quer pelo interesse da história em si, quer pela interpretação do elenco e maravilhoso guarda-roupa. A série retrata os primeiros anos do reinado de Isabel II, reunindo uma equipa de luxo. O guionista é Peter Morgan, o mesmo dos filmes A Rainha e Frost/Nixon, o realizador Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, As Horas) e o produtor Andy Harries (A Rainha).
1 - Already won 2 Golden Globes The original Netflix series won a Golden Globe for Best Drama Series and Best Actress for a Drama Series. Claire Foy's portrayal of a young woman who takes on a huge responsibility is powerful, yet subtle. Thanks to it the actress won the critics and eventually snatched the Globe for Best Actress. The creation of the character was done meticulously and attentive to the smallest details, such as the accent and the tone of voice so similar to that of the English monarch. Also the interpretation of John Lithgow, in the skin of the Prime Minister Winston Churchil, is not far behind. The actor was nominated for Best Actor. The male cast still integrates Jared Harris very similar to the nice King George VI and Matt Smith who composed an arrogant but alluring Prince Philip. The rest female cast also has excellent performances. Vanessa Kirby stands out as representing Margaret, Elizabeth's willful sister, and Victoria Hamilton who builds a Queen Mother in search of meaning for her new position in the royal family.
2 - Historical and based on real facts If you do not know the history of the UK in the last 50 years you have an excellent opportunity to do so. Although dialogues and narrative construction are fictitious, the episodes take us to political, social and economic moments of the country and the world at that time, revealing great events that shaped the second half of the twentieth century. In the series it is possible to realize that the reign of Elizabeth II has not been so calm. The early years were pretty intense. The young queen finds some obstacles such as the health problems that begin to affect British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, the nuclear tests of the Soviet Union and the decline of the British Empire. One episode focuses on the "Great Fog" of 1952, an environmental problem caused by a thick cloud of air pollution that struck London in December of that year, causing serious public health problems and more than 4000 deaths.
1 – Já arrecadou 2 Globos de Ouro
A série original da Netflix venceu um Globo de Ouro nas categorias Melhor Série Dramática de Televisão e Melhor Atriz de Série Dramática de Televisão. A representação de Claire Foy retratando uma jovem mulher que assume uma enorme responsabilidade é poderosa, embora subtil. Graças a ela a atriz conquistou a crítica e acabou por arrebatar o Globo de Melhor Atriz. A criação da personagem foi feita de forma meticulosa e atenta aos mais ínfimos pormenores, tais como o sotaque e o tom de voz tão semelhantes ao da monarca inglesa.
Também a interpretação de John Lithgow, na pele do Primeiro-ministro Winston Churchil, não se fica atrás. O ator foi nomeado para Melhor Ator. O elenco masculino integra ainda Jared Harris muito semelhante ao simpático Rei Jorge VI e Matt Smith que compõe um arrogante mas sedutor Príncipe Filipe. O restante elenco feminino também tem excelentes prestações. Vanessa Kirby destaca-se representando Margarida, a irmã voluntariosa de Isabel, e Victoria Hamilton que constrói uma Rainha-mãe em busca de sentido para a sua nova posição na família real.
2 - Série histórica baseada em factos reais
Caso não conheça a história do Reino Unido nos últimos 50 anos tem uma excelente oportunidade para o fazer. Embora os diálogos e a construção narrativa sejam fictícios, os episódios levam-nos a momentos políticos, sociais e económicos do país e do mundo nessa época, revelando grandes eventos que moldaram a segunda metade do século XX.
Na série é possível perceber que o reinado de Isabel II não tem sido assim tão tranquilo. Os primeiros anos foram bastante intensos. A jovem rainha encontra alguns obstáculos como os problemas de saúde que começam a afetar o primeiro-ministro britânico Winston Churchill, os testes nucleares da União Soviética e o declínio do Império Britânico. Um dos episódios foca o "Grande Nevoeiro" de 1952, um problema ambiental provocado por uma espessa nuvem de poluição atmosférica que assolou Londres em dezembro desse ano, provocando graves problemas de saúde pública e mais de 4000 mortes.
3 - The private side of the British royal family The greatest problems of Elizabeth II's reign have come more from the bosom of her own family, when the decisions of her loved ones compel her to choose between the crown or the love of those who surround her. Some of the most dramatic scenes of The Crown are precisely the confrontation between Elizabeth and her sister Margaret, a willful princess who decides to marry a divorced captain.
The role of women in society and in the family also begins to be questioned by the Queen herself, pondering traditions, obligations, individuality and opinions. The scenes about Elizabeth's marital problems with her husband, Prince Philip, are not hidden, and the husband reveals his resentment at changes in the family since his wife's accession to the throne. The prince is offended by having to kneel before his wife/the Queen at her coronation. From then on, the scandals happen in the life of Elizabeth II and the truth is that The Crown does not shy away from revealing the less flattering parts of the history of the royal family.
3 – O lado privado da família real britânica
Os maiores problemas ao reinado de Isabel II acabaram por vir mais do seio da sua própria família, quando as decisões dos seus entes mais queridos a obrigam a escolher entre a coroa ou o amor daqueles que a rodeiam. Algumas das cenas mais dramáticas de The Crown são precisamente o confronto entre Isabel e a sua irmã Margarida, uma princesa obstinada e voluntariosa que decide casar-se com um capitão divorciado.
O papel da mulher na sociedade e na família também começa a ser questionado pela própria Rainha, ponderando sobre as tradições, obrigações, individualidade e opiniões. As cenas sobre os problemas conjugais de Isabel com o seu marido, o Príncipe Filipe, não são escondidas e o marido revela o seu ressentimento pelas mudanças operadas no seio familiar a partir da ascensão ao trono da sua mulher. O Príncipe sente-se ofendido por de ter que se ajoelhar perante a esposa/Rainha na sua coroação. A partir de então os escândalos sucedem-se na vida de Isabel II e a verdade é que The Crown não se coíbe de revelar as partes menos lisonjeiras da história da família real.
4 - The Stunning Wardrobe When portraying a royal family the wardrobe is expected to be exceptional and The Crown does not disappoint. For fashion lovers, the series is a delight for the eyes, as it manages to show a true parade of male and female models at all spectacular. The responsibility of the construction of all the costumes was in charge of Michele Clapton who tried to recreate and replicate, down to the smallest detail, the pieces used by the main characters.
For example, Elizabeth II's wedding gown was replicated in all its splendor. Princess Margaret's attire is also exemplary, less classical and conservative than her sister's, but elegant and refined. Tiaras, jewelry, silks are part of her wardrobe even for family dinners. Another interesting point is the participation of Norman Hartnell in the series, the stylist responsible for the official wardrobe of the queen during the first years of its reign. The stylist is in charge of designing the Queen's dress inspired by the flowers typical of each Commonwealth country.
4 – O Guarda-roupa deslumbrante
Quando se retrata uma família real é esperado que o guarda-roupa seja excecional e The Crown não desilude. Para os amantes da moda, a série é um deleite para os olhos, pois consegue mostrar um verdadeiro desfile de modelos masculinos e femininos em tudo espetaculares. A responsabilidade da construção de todos os figurinos de época ficou a cargo de Michele Clapton que procurou recriar e replicar, até ao mais ínfimo pormenor, as peças usadas pelas personagens principais. Por exemplo, o vestido de casamento de Isabel II foi replicado em todo o seu esplendor. A indumentária da Princesa Margarida é também exemplar, menos clássica e conservadora do que a da irmã, mas elegante e requintada. Tiaras, joias, sedas fazem parte do seu guarda-roupa mesmo para meros jantares em família.
Outro ponto interessante é a participação na série de Norman Hartnell, o estilista responsável pelo guarda-roupa oficial da rainha durante os primeiros anos do seu reinado. O estilista é encarregado de desenhar a indumentária da Rainha inspirado nas flores típicas de cada país da Commonwealth.
5 - A great production The Crown stands out equally for the exuberance of production design. Besides the costumes, the scenery and the photograph are of a great wealth of details that easily transport us to a England of the 50s.
This work of historical research and reconstruction can be seen, for example, in the episode of the coronation of the Queen. The reconstitution of this ceremony was coordinated with actual images of June 2, 1953. In this aspect the series shows not only the secular rituals of the monarchy, but also the impact of the first coronation transmitted by television. Best of all, The Crown is set to continue for longer seasons. According to the creator of the series, Peter Morgan, episodes related to the life of Princess Diana will not be long. According to him, the character will appear at the end of the third season and will be the highlight of it during the 4th and 5th seasons.
5 - Uma grande produção
The Crown destaca-se igualmente pela exuberância do design de produção. Além dos figurinos, os cenários e a fotografia são de uma grande riqueza de detalhes que facilmente nos transportam para uma Inglaterra da década de 50. Esse trabalho de pesquisa e reconstrução histórica pode ser visto, por exemplo, no episódio da coroação da Rainha. A reconstituição dessa cerimónia foi coordenada com imagens reais de 2 de junho de 1953. Neste aspeto a série mostra não só os rituais seculares da monarquia, como também o impacto da primeira coroação transmitida pela televisão.
O melhor de tudo é que The Crown está para continuar por mais temporadas. De acordo com o criador da série, Peter Morgan, os episódios relativos à vida da Princesa Diana também não tardarão muito. Segundo ele, a personagem surgirá no final da terceira temporada e será a que maior destaque vai ter na história durante a 4ª e 5ª temporadas.
6. Season 2 will cover a whole new decade.
It starts in 1955 and runs through 1964. We'll see how revolutionary the city of London was in the 1960s, when bands such as The Beatles became a phenomenon of success. Remember that the British band was a favorite of Prince Charles and Princess Margaret.
7. The history of Philip's past becoming central highlight.
A complicated life story, unknown to most. Throughout the first season, Philip's character was not much explored, but in season two becomes crucial, especially in what concerns the education of the little prince Charles. Philip's childhood was not easy, and some details shown this season may even shock the public.

Vamos poder ver o quão revolucionária a cidade de Londres era nos anos 60, altura em que bandas como os The Beatles se transformaram num fenómeno de sucesso. 7. A história do passado de Philip que se torna destaque central.
Uma história de vida complicada, desconhecida pela maioria. Durante toda a primeira temporada, a personagem de Philip não foi muito explorada, mas na segunda temporada torna-se crucial, especialmente no que toca à educação do pequeno príncipe Carlos. A infância de Philip não foi fácil, sendo que alguns detalhes mostrados nesta temporada podem até chocar o público.

No final da primeira temporada já havíamos assistido a alguma desconfiança entre o casal e agora vamos ver como a própria imprensa começou a lançar algumas farpas em relação ao assunto. Nesta segunda temporada, Elizabeth afirma que "os rumores não desapareceram", referindo-se às supostas infidelidades do marido que durante anos alimentaram a imprensa britânica. É a partir daqui que Isabel II começa a tomar consciência de que tem de dar maior atenção à sua vida pessoal. No entanto, esta tensão entre o casal não dura toda a temporada. As coisas melhoram com o nascimento do terceiro filho, o príncipe André, em 1960.
9. The interpretation of Vanessa Kirby in the role of Princess Margaret. After losing the great love of her life in the first season of the series, Margarida meets the future husband in season 2. The Crown is scheduled to have six seasons, which makes it impossible for the initial cast to stay through the series, given the years. The characters get older and to do so convincingly will be interpreted by other actors. Olivia Colman will replace Claire Foy as Isabel II. The remaining cast is not yet known.
