In 1973, three brothers started a jeans sale at a rented tent at the famous Portobello Road Market in Notting Hill. Initially, they only traded jeans on Saturdays, because during the week, each one had his job. The name PEPE was chosen because it is short and easy to write on labels. But quickly the pants began to make a success among the younger crowd, and the brothers found themselves forced to start selling them in multi-brand stores.
It has been exactly 45 years since Pepe Jeans started an adventure with the first store opened and to celebrate the date, Pepe Jeans has lauched a special edition of 12 shirts that recover the original 1973 logos.
Em 1973, três irmãos começaram a vender calças de ganga personalizadas numa pequena barraca alugada no famoso Portobello Road Market, em Notting Hill. Inicialmente, só comercializavam os jeans aos sábados, porque durante a semana, cada um tinha o seu emprego. Segundo consta, o nome PEPE foi escolhido por ser curto e fácil de escrever nas etiquetas. Mas, rapidamente as calças começaram a fazer sucesso entre o público mais jovem, e os irmãos viram-se obrigados a começar a vendê-las em lojas multimarcas.
