And this statue of Winston Churchill, what will it think of all this? It is important to realize that the days can turn out to be darker and turbulent than they are approaching already in the coming weeks. All the consequences that the UK alone will have in the long term will have to be evaluated concretely.

Do not hide inside your own shell. This may turn against you, sooner than you can even imagine. Choose to be smart and polite, as you always have been. Being alone and isolated has never been the solution to success, but to retrogression.
And, just yesterday, March 29, the day the United Kingdom officially left the European Union, several Brexit supporters gathered in Westminster. One of the Brexiteers said, "I see what immigration has done to London, crime has invaded the city." Seriously ?? !! ... Does this man really know the history of London ??! Crime has always done part of this town for centuries ... For some reason we still talk about the stories of Jack the Ripper, or for some reason the English authors are so famous for detective novels ... Look at Aghata Christie ... or Sherlock Holmes... I may understand what he meant to say, but the solution is not isolating a country.

There are many who are already trying to distance themselves from the position of British Prime Minister Theresa May who refuses to consider re-hearing voters' views on the UK's exit from the European Union. Parece que até o Big Ben está envergonhado por tudo o que se tem passado dentro do Parlamento britânico... De costas voltadas e de rosto coberto, parece que esta limpeza da Elizabeth Tower até veio a calhar.
Este relógio que há tantos séculos acerta a hora a deputados e transeuntes, e que assistiu a tantos momentos históricos que permanecem até hoje na memória dos britânicos e do mundo, nunca assistiu a uma bagunça como esta.
E é tão triste pensar que aquele que é um dos monumentos mais famosos do mundo, que disse adeus no dia 21 de agosto de 2017, pode vir a regressar em 2021 numa era nunca antes vista.
E esta estátua de Winston Churchill, o que pensará ela de tudo isto? É importante perceber que os dias podem vir a ser muito mais negros e turbulentos do que os que se aproximam já nas próximas semanas. Porque tal como Churchill chegou a dizer em tempos, não basta olhar-se para o dia de amanhã, para a semana seguinte ou para o mês que vem. Há que avaliar concretamente todas as consequências que um Reino Unido sozinho terá a longo prazo.
Eu chamaria a tudo isto um arruinar de todos os esforços e de todas as relações que foram sendo construídas até hoje. O Reino Unido é tudo menos um país unido neste momento.
Nem tudo o que luz é ouro. Nem tudo gira somente em torno de dinheiro. E o que os ingleses têm demonstrado é que não sabem aquilo que querem, mas sabem muito bem aquilo que não querem. E esse é um péssimo princípio em qualquer ser humano.
Não há como ficar meio dentro e meio fora, não ter o bolo e querer comê-lo. Essa é a coisa mais absurda que já ouvi. Quando se está no mar, todos estão no mesmo barco, para o bem e para o mal. Mas. isso acontece em todas as áreas de nossas vidas. Quando se está num casamento, é suposto ser assim. E aqui, nem sequer estamos a falar de um casamento, mas sim de uma relação entre 12, livres para darem o seu ponto de vista, livres para escolher lados às vezes. E o povo britânico deveria saber disso muito bem. Há alguns anos, eles optaram por não ter a mesma moeda que os restantes membros da UE. Foi melhor para eles? Talvez ... Mas as coisas não giram apenas à volta de dinheiro. Estamos a falar também de segurança, por exemplo. Boas relações políticas entre "vizinhos" garantem a melhor segurança que se pode obter. E, sim, os britânicos beneficiaram muito diretamente disso nos últimos anos. Por acaso, sabem quantos ataques terroristas foram impedidos com a ajuda deste relacionamento?
Não se escondam dentro da vossa própria concha. Isso pode voltar-se contra vocês, mais cedo do que possam imaginar. Escolham ser inteligentes e educados, como sempre têm demonstrado ser. Estar sozinho e isolado nunca foi a solução para o sucesso, mas sim para o retrocesso.
Ainda ontem, 29 de março, dia em que o Reino Unido sairía oficialmente da União Europeia, vários apoiantes do Brexit se juntaram em Westminster. Um dos apoiantes à saída disse: "Vejo o que a imigração fez a Londres. A criminalidade invadiu a cidade”. A sério??!!... Será que esse homem conhece realmente a história de Londres??! A criminalidade sempre fez parte desta cidade há séculos... Por alguma razão ainda hoje se fala das histórias de Jack O Estripador, ou por alguma razão os autores ingleses são tão famosos por romances policiais... Olhem para Aghata Christie... ou Sherlock Holmes... Eu posso até entender o que aquele senhor quis dizer, mas a solução não passa por isolar um país.

Há muitos que já tentam distanciar-se da posição da primeira-ministra britânica Theresa May que se recusa a ponderar a hipótese de voltar a ouvir a opinião dos eleitores sobre a saída do Reino Unido da União Europeia. E tudo isto depois do que assistimos no passado sábado nas ruas de Londres... O descontentamento é geral, o cansaço de discutir há tanto tempo o Brexit ainda maior...
