Last year, it was the first time I went to Berkeley Square. I know it's kind of weird, due to the fact I visit London since 2007 and also because it's a super central place. You can go there easily whether you're at Picaddily Circus, or Carnaby Street, or even Oxford Street. It's only a few steps further.
It's in the middle of Mayfair, one of my favourite London areas, and also a very posh one. It's 2 minutes by foot from the place where Queen Elizabeth born.
Berkeley Square was made famous by the 1940s song 'Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square' (a wartime favourite) by Eric Mashwitz and Manning Sherwin. (WATCH THE VIDO ABOVE) It is also renowned for its wonderfully tall 18th century plane trees and the enormous quantity of benches.
The No. 44 was bought in 1959 by John Aspinall and transformed it into the Clermont Club. In the basement is Annabel's, London's most fashionable night club, opened in the 1960s by Mark Birley and named after his wife.
Annabel's is a members-only nightclub and catered to an exclusive clientele, including the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, Princess Anne, US President Richard Nixon, Aristotle Onassis and Frank Sinatra. In 2003, the Queen visited the club, and it is thought to be the only nightclub the queen has ever attended, other than White's (the oldest gentleman's club in London, founded in 1693).
Tina Turner, Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald, Diana Ross, Bryan Ferry and Lady Gaga played there. The sumptuous interior which was originally designed by Birley and designer Nina Campbell, has since been updated by Birley's daughter, India Jane, but the paintings from Birley's collection remain.
The original Annabel's closed its doors in 2018. A successor day and night club was opened in a building nearby, with a different membership. The No.46 has opened in March of 2018, and for the first time, Annabel’s now offers an all-day and all-night experience, set across 26,000 square where Members can work, dine and entertain.

Anyone who does not have the opportunity to enter, can always enjoy the wonderful façades that Annabel's usually surprise. This last, cake-shaped birthday, with a cherry on top, last December through a gigantic Christmas tree, and previously with a wall fully covered with flowers.

Há um dress code adequado e muitas regras que pode ver aqui.
Quem não tiver oportunidade de entrar, pode sempre ficar a apreciar as maravilhosas fachadas com que Annabel's costuma surpreender. Esta última, em forma de bolo de aniversário, com uma cereja no topo, em dezembro passado através de uma gigantesca árvore de Natal, e anteriormente com uma fachada coberta de flores.
