This photograph went far beyond what we all expected from this day. It's the sweetest we could have had and at the same time it shows the world how different british monarchy is right now. How life can change people and that it's never too late to redo history.
1. Looking at the picture in general, what color do we see? The blue. Yap, the blue of the coat chosen by the Queen, which may not have been at random, as well as the neutral colors used by the remaining members of the royal family present. And why blue? It's easy: the newborn is a boy.
2. This photograph is unprecedent, practically a debut. In no other royal birth, whether of the grandchildren or the great grandchildren of Queen Elizabeth II, we had access to this first meeting of the monarch with the baby. According to the rules of royalty, the queen should be the first to meet the royal baby (after the parents and medical team, of course) ... In fact, it has not been like that lately, given that babies have been born in hospitals, and often there are other family members who end up anticipating the queen's visit. But, no doubt that this is a very private moment, which we have now, for the first time, had access to.
3. And look closely at the Queen's genuinely delighted smile ... This smile can only reveal the good relationship that she has with Meghan and confirms the adoration she has for the grandson Harry. There are those who say that, for various reasons, the queen has a special affection for this grandson. One of them has to do with Harry's physical (and not only) resemblance to Prince Philip when he was about the same age.
4. The place chosen for this photo was not picked by chance. Although it is known that after the birth happened in a famous hospital for celebrities in London, the pair quickly returned to its house in Windsor (Frogmore Cottage), where this photo could have been taken. Still, it was captured in Windsor Castle, considered by the queen as 'the fort'. The fort that has protected the family, namely the queen in the most adverse moments of British royalty. And now it conveys precisely this idea of total protection.
5. Once again, it was unthinkable to imagine this image just a few years ago. Meghan Markle would never be accepted in the royal family, being the daughter of a mother of African descent, of separated parents and being her American actress and divorced. Is there a cocktail? Impossible. In my opinion, this image comes to represent precisely a message of redemption. Look at the past ... King Edward VIII (the beloved uncle of Queen Elizabeth II) was forced to give up the crown to marry Wallis Simpson, a divorced American. The Queen's own sister, Princess Margaret, lost the great love of her life by being barred from marrying Peter Townsend, as he too was a divorced man. Later, we witnessed the phenomenon of Diana of Wales, who died in a car accident, pursued by papparazzis, leaving her children William and Harry motherless. I have, therefore, now the feeling that the queen wants to leave the 'house' tidy.
6. This picture was used to announce the name of the baby: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. Archie means "bold and brave". In etymological terms, Harrison literally means son of Harry or Henry, so its choice is self explanatory. Which actually now makes a lot of sense.
7. This was also the first time we saw the Duke of Edinburgh, after he left public life, and after the episode of the accident he had while driving his Range Rover, from which he also left to drive. Now, at the age of 97 he finally reappeared.
8. Also important was the presence of the mother of Meghan Markle in this photograph ... She is a woman also divorced and with African roots, and has been from the beginning quite protected by the royal family. Doria Ragland's apparent loneliness on the day of her daughter's wedding was very noticeable, but even then a great sympathy was noted on the part of Prince Charles to accompany her wherever possible. Once again, she was not left out of this important family picture. Her presence is also crucial in the early days of Archie's baby, so she can give Meghan the support she needs.
Esta fotografia foi muito além do que todos nós esperávamos deste dia. É o mais doce que poderíamos ter e, ao mesmo tempo, mostra ao mundo como a monarquia britânica está diferente agora. Como a vida pode mudar as pessoas e como nunca é tarde demais para refazer a história.

Em nenhum outro nascimento real, quer dos netos, quer dos bisnetos da Rainha Isabel II, nós tivemos acesso a este primeiro encontro da monarca com o bebé. De acordo com as regras da realeza, a rainha deve ser a primeira a conhecer o bebé real (depois dos pais e equipa médica, obviamente)... É certo que ultimamente não tem sido assim, tendo em conta que os bebés têm nascido em hospitais, e muitas vezes há outros membros da família que acabam por antecipar a visita da rainha. Mas, sem dúvida que este é um momento bastante privado, a que agora, pela primeira vez, tivemos acesso.
3. E reparem bem no sorriso genuinamente encantado da rainha... Este sorriso só pode transparecer a boa relação que esta tem com Meghan e confirma a adoração que ela tem pelo neto Harry. Há quem diga que, por diversas razões, a rainha tem um carinho especial por este neto. Uma delas tem a ver com as parecenças físicas (e não só) de Harry com o príncipe Philip quando este tinha a mesma idade.
4. O lugar escolhido para esta foto também não terá sido ao acaso. Apesar de já se saber que afinal o parto aconteceu num famoso hospital de celebridades de Londres, o casal rapidamente regressou para a sua casa em Windsor (Frogmore Cottage), onde esta foto poderia ter sido tirada. Ainda assim, ela foi captada no Castelo de Windsor, considerado pela rainha como 'o forte'. O forte que tem protegido a família, nomeadamente a rainha nos momentos mais adversos da realeza britânica. E agora transmite precisamente essa ideia de proteção total.
5. Mais uma vez, era impensável imaginar esta imagem há alguns anos atrás. Meghan Markle nunca seria aceite na família real, sendo filha de uma mãe de ascendência africana, de pais separados e sendo ela própria atriz americana e divorciada. Melhor cocktail? Impossível. Na minha opinião, esta imagem representa precisamente uma mensagem de redenção. Olhemos para o passado ... O rei Eduardo VIII (o amado tio da rainha Elizabeth II) foi forçado a desistir da coroa para se casar com Wallis Simpson, uma americana divorciada. A própria irmã da rainha, a princesa Margaret, perdeu o grande amor da sua vida ao ser impedida de casar-se com Peter Townsend, pois ele também era um homem divorciado. Mais tarde, testemunhámos o fenómeno de Diana de Gales, que morreu num acidente de carro, perseguido por papparazzis, deixando os seus filhos William e Harry sem mãe. Tenho, portanto, agora a sensação de que a rainha quer deixar a 'casa' arrumada.

Foi bastante notada a aparente solidão de Doria Ragland no dia do casamento da filha, mas mesmo nessa altura se notou uma grande simpatia por parte do Príncipe Carlos em acompanhá-la sempre que era possível. Uma vez mais, ela não foi deixada de parte nesta importante fotografia de família. A sua presença é, aliás, crucial nestes primeiros dias de vida do bebé Archie, para que possa dar o apoio necessário a Meghan.
