Lady Gabriella Windsor married Thomas Kingston today in what is already called the most glamorous society wedding of the spring. The ceremony took place at St George's Chapel in Windsor, the same olace of the weddings of Princess Eugenie and the Duke of Sussex last year.
Currently 51st in line to the throne, Lady Gabriella is the Queen's first cousin once removed and is the daughter of Prince Michael of Kent. Her husband is well-known in royal circles, having also previously dated the Duchess of Cambridge's younger sister, Pippa Middleton.
THE DRESS The prettiest bridal dress I've seen lately...! The bride wore a stunning gown by Italian designer Luisa Beccaria, which featured a cream blush train with antique rose embroidery. Blush is an unusual choice for a royal bride, with no others in recent history choosing the pink hue for their big day. There is a precedent for it in Hollywood, though, with A-listers including Anne Hathaway, Gwen Stefani and Jessica Biel wearing pink dresses on their wedding day.
The body was slim-fitting with a round-neckline and lace sleeves, while the train flared out dramatically. The elegant, slim-fitting dress, was the result of months of collaboration between the 38-year-old and the Milanese designer, who is a close friend of her parents, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent. Indeed, the two have known each other for four years now, with the Kents often staying with Beccaria at her home in Sicily. So, it was perhaps unsurprising that Gabriella decided to visit the designer at her showroom in Milan when the time came to find her wedding dress, as Beccaria’s brand has a bridal line. Beccaria prides herself on making nontraditional wedding dresses, highlighting that they aren’t ‘structured or rigid’, but instead are ‘very modern’.
Another late amendment was the train, which Beccaria decided to make more dramatic in keeping with the occasion. She was inspired by looking at pictures of Gabriella’s grandmother, the Duchess of Kent, on her wedding day, as she knew that she would be wearing her tiara. Beccaria also created three other dresses for Gabriella to wear, one for her arrival at the venue, another for the evening, and another for lunch the next day.

THE TIARA Lady Gabriella chose her grandmother's tiara - the Kent City of London Tiara - to wear on her big day, the same one borrowed by her mother Princess Michael of Kent for her wedding celebrations. It was a gift to Princess Marina of Greece, who became the Duchess of Kent, on her wedding day in 1934. The kokoshnik style tiara pays homage to Marina’s mother, Grand Duchess Elena Vladimirovna, as it is reminiscent of the traditional headdress worn in Russia. The Duchess wore it on many occasions, including at the coronation of her brother-in-law, King George VI in 1937, as well as in a series of portraits shot by Cecil Beaton. Tradition dictates that members of the royal family may only wear a tiara after they are married, and it is usual for the headpiece to be borrowed from another relative’s collection.
GUESTS Guests included several members of the royal family, including the Queen, Prince Harry, Prince Andrew, Princess Anne, Sarah, Duchess of York. Others in attendance included Pippa Matthews, Carole and Michael Middleton, and Julian Fellows. Surprisingly, the Queen was joined by the Duke of Edinburgh who rarely makes public appearances since retiring from regal duties. Prince William has confirmed that he wiouldn't not be at the wedding in Windsor, as he will instead be at Wembley Stadium presenting either Manchester City or Watford with the FA Cup trophy, as announced on the Kensington Palace Twitter account. Pippa Middleton was one of the many well-dressed guests. She turned to one of her favourite brands for the occasion, wearing a cornflower blue Kate Spade dress, with ruched sleeves and a belted waist. She paired this with a perfectly co-ordinating headband, matching blue shoes and sparkling blue earrings.
