Today is the night of St. Anthony, the patron saint of the city of Lisbon. A lot of animation around the various camps in the typical neighborhoods of Lisbon: Castelo, Mouraria, Graça, Alfama, Ajuda and Bairro Alto, are just some of them. In all of them there is music and dance to the rhythm of popular songs.
Throughout this month of festivities in Lisbon, the streets are invaded by the smell of roasted sardines and the aromas of the famous pots of basil. Each one has a poem allusive to St. Anthony.
The Popular Marches are the highlight of the Lisbon Festivities. The tradition is maintained and every year by this time, the marches of each neighborhood parade on the well-known Avenida da Liberdade. This year, the Popular March of Ribeira de Frades (Coimbra) is the guest.
In this edition, there will be Fado no Castelo with Portuguese artists like Ana Moura, on June 14, who sings next to the group of capella Sopa de Pedra, and Raquel Tavares accompanied by the Gospel Collective, on the 15th.
Alfama is one of the most typical neighborhoods and where the party is great. It was there that I spent a few days and it was also there that I spent some nights in Santo António in previous years. For those who enjoy a lot of excitement and conviviality, with a lot of tradition to mix, this is the place.
Lately, I have been partying in the Campo Pequeno area, where there is also a camp with lots of music and food and drinks. This year there is 'Revenge of the 90's', a band that became popular for playing well-known themes of the 90's. In addition to them, on June 12 there will be Miguel Azevedo, Saúl and Romana and on the 13th, DJ Set "Prá Criançada" Duo Rafael.

Hoje é a noite de Santo António, o padroeiro da cidade de Lisboa. Muita animação pelos vários arraiais nos bairros típicos de Lisboa: Castelo, Mouraria, Graça, Alfama, Ajuda e Bairro Alto, são apenas alguns deles. Em qualquer um há música e dança ao ritmo de canções populares.
Ao longo deste mês de festas em Lisboa, as ruas são invadidas pelo cheiro da sardinha assada e pelos aromas dos famosos vasos de manjericos. Cada um traz uma quadra alusiva a Santo António.
As Marchas Populares são o ponto alto das Festas de Lisboa. A tradição mantém-se e todos os anos por esta altura, as marchas de cada bairro desfilam na conhecida Avenida da Liberdade. Este ano, a Marcha Popular de Ribeira de Frades (Coimbra) é a convidada.
Nesta edição, vai haver Fado no Castelo com artistas portugueses como Ana Moura, a 14 de junho, que canta ao lado do grupo de capella Sopa de Pedra, e Raquel Tavares acompanhada dos Gospel Collective, no dia 15.
Alfama é um dos bairros mais típicos e onde a festa é grande. Foi por lá que passei há uns dias e foi também lá que ja passei algumas noites de Santo António. Para quem gosta de muita animação e convívio, com bastante tradição à mistura, este é o lugar ideal.
