This is not the end, but it's a goodbye for Meghan and Harrry... at least goodbye to a lot of things that will be very different from now on.
Her Majesty the Queen has released a statement with details of the agreement reached for the Duke and the Duchess of Sussex. Basically:
- Harry and Meghan will remain Duke and Duchess of Sussex and will be individually styled as Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
- They will retain but not use their JRH titles and will continue to support their private patronages but will no longer represent the Queen
- Frogmore Cottage will continue to be thei UK home, but they'll have to repay the public expenditure on it and will pay for its upkeep.
- The Duke will loose his military patronages and will no longer serve as Commonwealth Youth Ambassador, representing the Queen. He will step down as Captain-General of the Royal Marines, Honorary Air Commandant at RAF Honington and other roles...
Details, including security and using the name 'Sussex Royal' will be shared in due course.
All the changes will come into effect from the Spring and it's supposed they will carry out further royal engagements in the UK before then.
Meghan Markle was recently spotted driving and picking up a friend from the Victoria International Airport. Meghan was seen in the driver’s seat of a Land Rover awaiting her friend Heather Dorak, the founder of Pilates Platinum. Dorak was one of a handful of close friends who attended Meghan’s wedding to Prince Harry in 2018.
But, what's next? Are they really moving to Canada? Are they really welcome there? Will this cause problems to Meghan's British Citizenship? Why aren't they moving to LA yet? Can all this harm balance monarchy?

Todas estas mudanças entrarão em vigor a partir da primavera e supõe-se que, até lá, o casal ainda realize outros compromissos reais no Reino Unido.
Mas o que vem a seguir? Vão realmente mudar-se para o Canadá? São bem-vindos lá? Isso causará problemas à cidadania britânica de Meghan? Porque é que, para já, não vão para LA? Tudo isto pode prejudicar a monarquia?

1. Why they might have chosen Canada? The Duchess of Sussex lived in the country for seven years during filming of legal TV drama Suits and Prince Harry has visited on many occasions for royal tours and for the Invictus Games in 2017.
2. Canada's leading newspaper the "Globe and Mail" condemned the couple, claiming Canada is “not a halfway house” for the royals. "Canada welcomes people of all faiths, nationalities and races, but if you're a senior member of our Royal Family, this country cannot become your home." we could read. Public opinion seems to be split on whether the couple has made the right decision with many people endorsing the couple for putting their happiness first.
3. They are reportedly looking at moving to LA and Toronto as well as Vancouver Island. The couple spent their holidays on Vancouver Island in a luxury waterfront mansion. Some are saying Meghan and Harry are hoping to settle down and rebuild their brand in LA. That's why the couple used the words North America in their statement about where they planned to live. the US could become an option if Trump doesn’t win a second term. Meghan refused to meet with Trump when he visited the UK last year. She had previously branded him as "misogynistic." and she even said back in 2016, that she would move to Canada if Hillary Clinton did not win the election.
4. Meghan's plan to live in Canada could cause problems for her British citizenship... there are rules over how much time she spends in Britain. It takes around five years to get indefinite leave to remain, at which point you can apply for citizenship by by naturalisation. When Meghan applies for naturalisation she should not have spent more than 270 days out of the country in the last three years. However there is speculation she and Harry could go abroad for six months a year which would mean she is away from the UK for 540 days over three years.
5. Meghan and Harry’s move to Canada could have a negative impact on the relationship between the British Crown and Canadians. The canadian newspaper "Globe and Mail" wrote: “Our royals don’t live here. They reign from a distance. A royal living in this country does not accord with the long-standing nature of the relationship between Canada and Britain, and Canada and the Crown.".
6. Apparently, Meghan is already negotiating commercial deals with fashion brands like Givenchy. This is not a surprise as the Duchess of Sussex has been a fan of Givenchy for quite some time. Meghan has already turned her hand to a number of fashion-related projects, include guesting editing the September issue of British Vogue. She acreated a Smart Set charity collection for SmartWorks in September last year. The capsule collection sold out, and soon garments were sold on eBay for inflated prices.Caroline Wolf, stylist and founded of the Capsule Wardrobe Collection said: “Meghan’s evolving, deliberate style always showed that she meant business and in 2020, should she be permitted to step back from royal duties and spent her time shuttling back and forth between the UK and Canada, we’re likely to see her either returning to her career on the big screen or continuing to develop her fashion lines.”
7. The places where they will spend time in the future:
- The Mulroney's Home: this is where her close friend, stylist Jessica Mulroney, lives with her husband, TV host Ben, and their three children, John, Brian, and Ivy. The Mulroneys’ home has long been a refuge for the Sussexes: Harry and Meghan reportedly hid out there after news of their relationship broke in 2017.
- Markus Anderson and Soho House: when the Sussexes settle in, Anderson will likely plan the welcome party. A longtime member of Meghan’s inner circle, he'is a consultant at Soho House, the private club with locations around the world.
- Modo Yoga: now that she’s returning to Canada Toronto yogis could have another chance to downward-dog with the duchess at Modo, which boasts sustainably-built studios run on renewable energy.
-The Fairmont Royal York: Harry stayed at the historic downtown luxury hotel during the 2017 Invictus games, following in the footsteps of Queen Elizabeth II.
- Vancouver Island: Harry and Meghan took their long holiday break from London on this picturesque Pacific island, reportedly staying at a waterfront beach estate arranged by super-producer David Foster.
- Mackage: the downtown Toronto boutique that’s home to one of her favorite coat brands. Meghan famously matched Prince Harry in a navy “Elodie” coat by the store during their first joint post-royal-engagement event in 2017.
- Trinity Bellwoods Park: Meghan was known to walk her dogs, Bogart and Guy, here. It's the Toronto’s answer to Central Park, an ideal place for Archie to toddle on the playground.
